Cymbal Simon was fortunate to have been taught by some very experienced players; Derek Hogg (Dudley Moore Trio) Jack Richards (Author of the Guildhall School of Music Grading Books) and the infamous Ted McKenna (Sensational Alex Harvey Band) amongst others. He played his first Professional Gig at the age of twelve with “The Don Fysinski Trio” playing Jazz and Tea Dances, four nights a week, ( £7 per hour in 1972 ) played in The Savoyard Orchestra, The Isle of Wight Youth Orchestra, The Isle of Wight Wind Orchestra and won the English Marching Band Championships twice ( Newport Old Guard ) before leaving the IOW to Study Music in London, at the age of 16.
His approach to teaching and his belief that learning should be fun seems to work well, so, whether you’re drumming for the hell of it, trying to get into a band or chucking it all in to be a Musician (Mid-Life Crisis) Cymbal Simon can help you make your Dreams come true!
Lessons take place fortnightly and last for one hour ( However, there is no Government Health Warning about weekly lessons)....Yet!? If you’re at school and want to play drums at Standard, Higher Grades and Advanced Higher, Cymbal Simon can help you out as he can teach the Scottish Examination Board Syllabus......if you’re willing to learn it! For 2009 the Rock School Curriculum is also available however, Students must Purchase their own Rock School Books. He has already taught Pupils from the distant corners of the Central Region and has untapped a wealth of talent; proof of which, is to be found on the: Student Demos Page
