About Cymbal Simon

Once upon a time, long, long ago, a child was born? At least, that’s what they thought! Unbeknown to them, this was no ordinairy child; this child was to take the mantle of Cymbal Simon and the world was never to be the same again!

In fact Cymbal Simon has now grown-up (debatable) and has been playing drums for nearly forty years. He has played all sorts of music, from Classical to Heavy Metal, from Tea Dance to Reggae and in all sorts of places. From the ‘Dizzy’ heights of the Channel View Hotel on the IOW to the Hammersmith Odeon, from the top of the Matterhorn in Zermatt to Barnsley. What a life??

Unfortunately, Cymbal Simon is getting a bit wrinkly now and has curbed his meanderings throughout the world. He has been resident in Scotland for some time now and is concentrating his efforts on recording and teaching. However, there is still life in the ‘Old Dog’ yet...and he’s now playing with “McDuff and Co”- “Mad Fox”-Touring with Lil’ Jimmy Reed and Depping with “Kevin Montgomery,” so all is not lost!

At present Cymbal Simon (Simon Pooley) is playing with McDuff and Co and Mad Fox and also does various ‘Depping Gigs’ and Recording Sessions. He has recently played for Lil Jimmy Reed from Enterprise, Alabama and Kevin Montgomery from Nashville, Tennessee.
